Review and Inverse Variation
Lesson Outline
I had Hunter finish the 50-question final exam review. He worked the last 20 questions, some on his own, and some with assistance from me. I am surprised at how much he has remembered from this year.
I taught him about inverse variation and joint variation, and had him work some problems related to that topic..

Probability
Lesson Outline
We finished our lessons on probability today. Hunter completed several exercises on finding the probability of independent and mutually exclusive events, with and without replacement. He was very analytical as he thought about the possible answers and scenarios!

Graphing functions with transformations
Lesson Outline
We took the parent functions of quadratic, absolute value, and root functions to study all transformations of the function. Hunter graphed the equations by hand and varified the result with calculator.

Review and Probability
Lesson Outline
Like yesterday, Hunter worked on review questions and did some exercises on Probability from Khan Academy. We also talked about the Pythagorean Theorem, and I explained how I used it yesterday in a real life situation. I had him draw a triangle on paper and make squares from the sides of it. He then cut out the squares and fit the squares of the legs onto the square of the hypotenuse. This showed him visually how the legs squared, when added together, equals the hypotenuse squared.

Review and Probability
Lesson Outline
Hunter worked exercises from the Math for Readiness Final Exam Review. I helped him when he needed it. We watched several videos from Khan Academy on Probability, and he did some exercises from it. We played the game "Mastermind", which helps improve logic and reasoning. Finally, we played a game of Monopoly. Hunter had to be the banker, so that he could practice the math. He won the game.

Character Sketch
Lesson Outline
Hunter and I completed his hours for Enlish IV today. He worked on his written response to the prompt about "Of Mice and Men," a character sketch of Lennie. He was very motivated and did a great job of first, organizing his thoughts, and then writing, being sure to use vivid verbs, figurative language, and modifiers. He made an effort to present a logical progression of thoughts and was able to produce a lengthy paragraph. Afterwards, we edited the character sketch together.

Probability of Multiple Events
Lesson Outline
I had Hunter work on 10 questions from a "Math For College Readiness" final exam review sheet. He was able to complete some of the exercises easily, while others required my assistance.
I introduced "probability of multiple events". We tallied how may odd and prime numbers we got after rolling 2 die. We talked about independent and dependent events, and used P(A and B) = P(A)*P(B). Mutually exclusive events are 2 events that cannot happen at the same time. We used different formulas to find the probability of (A or B). I showed him Khan Academy videos that taught some basics of probability.

Exponential Equations / Transversal Lines
Lesson Outline
We spent most of our time on Khan Academy today. I had Hunter look at the videos on parallel lines cut by a transversal as a review, and then had him work a practice section. He did well with it. I introduced Solving Exponential Equations using Exponential Properties. We worked through some of the example exercises, then did practice ones. When Hunter first looked at a problem, he was not sure how to start. However, once we started working through it together, he was ok.
