Editing
Lesson Outline
Hunter did not bring book today and did not read any more of it during Thanksgiving break, therefore, we could not analyze, nor discuss writing assignment or guiding questions that went along with the reading. He admitted to not having ever read a book during his High School years. I suggested he bring the book to school and, if necessary, we will read together in class. He spent the hour continuing to write his essay on O.J. Simpson. He began editing with my help. We will continue in our next class.

Mechanical Drawings/CAD
Lesson Outline
Hunter first reviews freehand sketching of a 3-D object with dimensions. He then does the same sketch with the drafting equipment. This includes showing a hole and how it is located. Lastly, Hunter views a video on what CAD ( Computer Aided Design) is and how it is used in the manufacturing process. Good session.

Quizzes on Factoring trinomials
Lesson Outline
I had Hunter work 2 assessments on the computer today. They were each 5 questions, and they asked him to factor trinomials with a leading coefficient of 1, as well as a leading coefficient greater than 1. The assessments were multiple choice. Hunter factored them on paper. I loved listening to him talk through the problem, and correct himself when he knew he made a mistake. He scored 100% on both quizzes, with a little help from me.
I also had him do a quiz that involved solving a quadratic equation using the zero product property. It is simply an extension of factoring, in which he sets both factored binomials equal to zero and solves each for the variable. He needed more help with this one. I also introduced the imaginary number, i, to him. It is defined as the square root of negative 1. We will be working with it when we return from Thanksgiving.

How to purchase a new or used car
Lesson Outline
This afternoon we began our lesson on how to purchase a new or preowned car. Hunter and I discussed the importance of being prepared and performing the research needed to make the best selection at the best price before approaching a dealership or private owner. We started on a worksheet that I have prepared for him which we will continue upon our return after Thanksgiving.

Lesson Comments
Because of what was discussed at the conference with Lance and Judie, I felt it appropriate to include this subject material in todays session.

Cord progression to Sweet Home Alabama.
Lesson Outline
Review chords and strum pattern.
Play the progression to Sweet Home Alabama with a Metronome.

Good job by Hunter. For the most part, his chords sounded really good, and his changes were better. He could benefit from 15 to 20 minutes of at home practice every day to create the muscle memory necessary to smooth out some of the bigger chord changes.
Assignment
Practice playing Sweet Home Alabama.

Factoring and Radicals
Lesson Outline
Hunter worked on many factoring problems today. He was getting confused with the processes, so I had him spend more time with them. I think he finally clicked with them. Tomorrow I will give him an assessment on factoring trinomials and difference of squares.
We looked at radicals. I did a brief review of them since he will use them when we start quadratic equations.
