Hunter tests several wall hanging hooks for their recommended weight restrictions. These hooks were rated at 10, 20, 50, and 100 pound weight restrictions. Each hook passed the test requirements. Next Hunter learns how to hang two types of wall mounted pictures. The first has one center bracket and the second has two brackets. Lastly, he learns how a toggle bolt works. Great session.

Hunter added four new vocabulary words and created cards - chastise, placate, prattle and hubris. We discussed topics for essay-writing. He will begin with creating note cards with ideas for a thesis statement and supporting evidence. We read about paragraphs in essay-writing and discussed "Master and Commander". Hunter began completing prefix exercises and will complete for homework.
Hunter completes an exercise to review his measurement skills. It is a step by step reading a ruler to the nearest 1/8th of an inch. He follows the directions very well. Lastly, Hunter repairs a classroom table leg height by selecting, drilling, and assembling with a sheet metal screw and screw gun. Good session.
Today we reviewed linear equations. We covered finding line slope, stand form, slope
intercept form and point slope form and how to convert between them. Hunter's homework tonight id pg 68 # 42-47.
We started reading Patrick O'Brian's novel "Master and Commander' which features the initial encounters between Captain Jack Aubrey and Doctor Steven Maturin at the Royal Navy's base at Port Mahon, Minorca in 1805.

Hunter seemed to really enjoy the end of the movie which seemed to whet his appetite for the novel. We'll see.
Review chords G, C, and D. Strum and switch chords slowly using a quarter note rhythm. Begin learning the G major scale.
Creating melodies from scale notes: Begin learning the melody to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star in the key of G.
Hunter did very well and worked very hard on getting good tone from his chords and fretted notes. He picked up the melody to Twinkle Twinkle very quickly. I am going to suggest that Hunter get a guitar of his own for at home practice. Consistent practice outside of school is highly necessary for him to develop as a guitarist and overall musician.
Assignment
Practice the melody to Twinkle Twinkle, practice the G major scale, practice switching between the G, C, and D chords.
Hunter carefully cuts, files, and sands the remaining part of the monkey flip. With needle nose pliers and fine wire, he assembles the legs and arms to the monkey body. Lastly, using fishing line, Hunter attaches the hands of the monkey to the uprights and ties the line off. By squeezing the uprights at the furthest bottom point, the monkey does a complete summersalt The toy functions perfectly. Good job, Hunter.
