Gracyn and I read and discussed the beginning of a new 'Just Grace' story. She completed a lesson in Reading Eggs and we practiced spelling words with long and short /u/ cvc and cvce. She also corrected and completed sentences to work on spelling and punctuation.
Gracyn has moved on to the next unit, consisting of 2-digit subtraction. Today, she subtracted a single-digit from a double-digit. She practiced breaking apart the ones to get to the nearest, lesser ten and then subtracting the remaining ones. She used a number line as a model. We will continue working on this concept tomorrow with more practice problems.
Gracyn chose to use her arts and crafts time to write I miss you cards to Grandma Faith and Lolly & Pop. She used cards that were recently purchased at the store and took time deciding who received each card. Then, in her own words, she wrote them cute little notes. I helped Gracyn with spelling and punctuation along the way but let her determine the content.
In this lesson, Gracyn worked on the topic of goods and services with If You Give A Mouse a Cookie. She also worked to identify goods and services from the world around her.
Gracyn and I finished reading and discussing our Junie B. Jones story. We worked on words with long and short /u/ sound, with Gracyn writing the sort. She read a nonfiction story about the brain and answered the comprehension questions with accuracy.
design fundamentals. Gracyn is currently working on review the importance of the "elements of art." She is using her "primary" colors, and the elements of lines and spaces, to create some new art forms.
