Gracyn read a Raz fantasy fiction story for independent practice. We worked on words with the quick erase game and practiced the cvce pattern. We read and discussed the first two chapters of a Junie B. Jones book. Gracyn wrote 10 words from our word work practice.

design fundamentals. Gracyn is beginning some review lessons on the "elements" of art. She will make a color wheel today and review the importance of the "primary" colors.

Gracyn and I read 'Abuela' for read aloud and talked about the ways the illustrator told the story through her illustrations much more vividly than the author did. She read a Raz book about bridges and correctly answered the comprehension questions. We worked on decoding words with silent e and the -ed ending.

Gracyn choose how she wanted to solve given word problems. She read though the problems circling the needed information then writing a sentence or drawing a picture to help her solve. Then, Gracyn completed a mid-chapter checkpoint. This covered how to break apart ones to make a ten before adding, breaking apart addends to find the sum, and double-digit addition.

Student completed Earth Day activities and listened to read alouds.

Gracyn began a new chapter today on plant and animal needs. She read the first lesson today on the needs of plants. She read through each page and answered questions as she read along. She learned that plants need air, water, space, soil, and sunlight to be healthy. At the end of the lesson, she did two activities on how she would take care of a plant to keep it healthy.

Today we played an Easter yoga game. I had plastic eggs filled with slips of paper with different poses with an Easter/spring theme. When the color egg was chosen, Gracyn had to do the pose. Since Reed, Gracyn's brother was in the room, he also participated in the class doing the poses. Some of the poses had to be made up (i.e. baby chick), and others were traditional poses. There were also some "wild cards" where any movement or pose could be chosen. At the end of class, we did some standing balancing poses.

Gracyn and I talked about some fun Easter dessert recipes. We watched a video from Cake Styles, the woman made a lovely Easter cake.

Gracyn worked on note recognition today. She made her own keyboard and labeled it with the names of the notes. We also talked about Mozart and his writing of 'Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star."

Our read aloud story was 'Ginger and Petunia' , we focused on making predictions for the character's actions. We sorted words with long and short vowel sounds and practiced tapping the sounds. Gracyn read a version of "Cinderella' on RazKids and completed the comprehension questions with 100% accuracy.
