Gracyn began a new unit on data. We reviewed why and how we would collect data to graph. Picture graphs and tally charts were two means of charting data that we worked on today. Together, we made a tally chart while playing a making tens game. Two dice were rolled and added together. The sum was taken in cubes and filled into a ten frame. Once the ten frame was full, a tally was made in the chart. The first player with 10 tally marks won.

Today Gracyn warmed up her body playing bumper cars, doing gross motor movements not bumping into others. She then did ab work and stretching. Gracyn then worked on eye-hand coordination throwing balls into a hoop and then balancing a hoop on her head. She ended the session with creating shapes with her body using different categories.

Gracyn took a telling time assessment. It consisted of telling time to the hour and to the half hour along with writing time to the hour and to the half hour on both digital and analog clocks. We solved review problems pertaining to tens and ones, finding the difference, and two-digit addition with regrouping. Finally, we used base ten blocks for a place value game. We took turns rolling dice, adding them together, "shopping" for the cubes, and placing them on our place value mat. When the columns gained more than 9 ones or tens, we went to the "store" to exchange for a ten or hundred.

Lesson Outline
Today Gracyn and I made fudgy, chewy chocolate cookies with peanut butter chips. We combined all the wet ingredients in the KitchenAid mixer. Next, we incorporated the flour, baking soda and salt. For the finishing touch we added a cup of peanut butter chips. Gracyn set the timer for 10 minutes. When the cookies were finished Gracyn shared with all her friends.

Today's lesson covered time patterns. Gracyn looked at three clocks that only showed the hour hand. She had to determine if the minute hand should point towards the 12 or 6 and write the time. After determining the time on the first three clocks and finding the pattern, she had to choose the time on the 4th clock. To correlate with our time lessons, we played a time related game. Using a game board with clocks on each space, we rolled dice to move. Then, we each had to read the time on the clock and find a matching digital clock in the center of the board. The most found matches won the game.
