Gracyn is doing class work during Skype lesson. She is doing math 1st grade lessons and addition and subtraction practice.

Today Gracyn worked on the next lesson in her mathematics book which was about Liquid Measurements. It covered cups, pints, and quarts. There were 4 pages which she worked on and she completed them with instruction and understood the concepts. I brought in objects from the kitchen and she told me if she thought it was the size of a cup, pint or quart. I also brought in the tadpoles which are in a quart sized bottle.Then we worked on many addition problems using a combination of flashcards with a number chart. She was very successful with her addition so we moved on to subtraction. She successfully subtracted numbers with 1 and 2 units. We finished the session by reading a couple of books. One is called "Make Way for Duckling" which just had it's 75th anniversary. It was published that long ago and is still popular today. We finished with Brown Bear with my version (I have cut out pieces of all the animals).

Today Gracyn took her spelling test. She did amazingly! She got her bonus word "baseball" correct! She missed the words off and us..but when I asked her to look at them again she was able to self correct the words. In writing she wrote two quality sentences about the play date she had yesterday with her friends. We also completed a cute spring worksheet where we had to see how many words we could make using the letters in the word "spring fun." In reading I read her "Six Hogs on a Scooter" out loud. She then had to complete a response sheet. She had to label the author, title, describe her favorite part, and whether or not she would recommend the story. In Bible, we watched 3! Bible videos! She enjoys the Beginner Bible movies. Today we watched Jonah and the Whale, David and Goliath, and Daniel and the Lions Den. At the end of each movie I asked her questions about the movie and how God used each of the men to serve him and to share God's love. We called today our Bible Fun Friday!

Today Gracyn and I began her time with her morning worksheet. After, she had to write two complete sentences describing her most favorite toy. Of course she chose her American Girl doll. We completed another mystery sentence activity. Gracyn had to decode the beginning sounds of words to solve the riddle. The sentence was "The ladybug can fly." In Bible we learned about Noah today. We watched a short video together. In Raz kids she read a level C book today.

Skype - next lesson in Chapter 14 on measurement. Review what we have learned in this unit. Practice adding and subtracting . Practice number order using 100 chart and greater and less than.

We started off the session with some yoga poses named after farm animals. Gracyn then did some poses in the sun salutation since the morning sun was coming in through the windows. We started playing around with variations of poses, and Gracyn ended up doing a very difficult pose called the archer or telephone (for kids). I took out the book of advanced yoga poses, and we went through various poses in the book and Gracyn tried some. We also discussed ways to do the poses properly. We then used the yoga cards to create a yoga story with poses. At the end of class, she took out her baby doll and did Itsy Bitsy Yoga with the doll.

Gracyn was eating her lunch for some of our session so we spent that time watching videos comparing "Club/Professional" gymnastics to college gymnastics. When she was finished eating we did some stretching and started the ABC gymnastics challenge. We will try to come up with a gymnastics skill for each letter of the alphabet. We finished by doing the freeze dance.

Today Gracyn and I watched Kidz Bop video's and some just dance video's. Gracyn had fun dancing and singing along.

Today Gracyn learned how to write an informational paragraph. We folded a paper in half. On each side she will write directions on how to make or do something. I first modeled by showing her how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. She then decided to write about how to make macaroni and cheese. I was very proud of her and her ability to accomplish this. She used the words "first, next, and last" as she completed her informational writing.

Gracyn started out her day writing her spelling words. She is confident and excited to learn how to spell the word baseball. We did her morning worksheet today and she wrote about her new white jeep. Then we did a cute mystery sentence activity where she had to decode the vowel sounds that spelled a mystery sentence. The sentence was "The bunny is soft."
