Today Gracyn made Spring Sprinkled Sugar Cookies. She put the ingredients in the KitchenAid mixer and mixed them till the mix was light and fluffy. Gracyn then made the cookies into balls and rolled them in spring colored sprinkles. The cookies turned out super soft, tender, ultra chewy and have a delicious vanilla taste.
Today Gracyn and I skyped from St. Louis. We reviewed her new spelling words and she wrote them once. Next we did her daily morning work. For writing, I allowed her to write freely. She wrote about her mom and then drew a picture of her mom. In Bible we read Proverbs 3:3. She found a cute little Bible journal to write down her daily prayers . In science we brainstormed about things that we see in the spring. Gracyn drew pictures that represented spring including flowers, green grass, butterflies, and baseball! She then wrote two good solid sentences about spring. In reading, she selected two stories on Raz Kids to read aloud. One story was challenging, level E, and the other was easy, level C. It was great seeing Gracyn this morning on Skype.
On our last lesson together today, we played through Gracyn's Amazing Grace on piano as well as Au Claire de la Lune on piano. We sang through her songbook of favorites and reviewed note values including quarter notes, half notes, eighth notes, and dotted half notes. We'll miss you, Gracyn!
Gracyn and I had a wonderful last afternoon together. We painted and played some of our favorite games. I have enjoyed every day working with her. I am so proud of all that she has learned. I am so blessed to have been given this opportunity to work with her. Congratulations, Gracyn! (Class of 2016!)
Today, we began our session with a discussion about what items of clothing we were both wearing (in Spanish). Next, we used a page of cutout clothes to create a character with her own unique fashion. As we each designed the character, we talked in Spanish about the pieces of clothing that we had chosen for her to wear as well as the colors.
