After reviewing specific literary techniques, Max began applying them in his own creative narrative. Today’s focus was on concrete nouns and action verbs, introduction of conflict, and character development.
In this session, Max learned how to plot points in the Cartesian coordinate system. We then learned how to find points on the linear graph. This again was backed up and verified with the graphing calculator.
In this session, Max worked on solving linear equations using signed numbers, integers and fractions. Max also verified his solutions using the graphing calculator and the intersect app.
In this session, we started with reviewing basic skills of adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions. We then continued our work solving linear equations.
Max read a short story from Roald Dahl and annotated literary techniques used in the narrative. He discussed these afterward and began writing ideas for his own short story where he will apply the techniques learned in his own writing.
Max explored narrative writing techniques. He practiced creating imagery by incorporating concrete nouns and action verbs; this, in turn, develops picturesque scenes used in narrative.
Max began the painting portion of his clay sculpture. I had him place a gray base coat for the face and move on to the clothing using red and blue for their respective areas. We left his work dry and he proceeded to paint the face with a flesh tone, clothing with a second coat and the boots with brown.
Max was not feeling well, so he didn't feel like reading and writing.
Max told me about his trip to Seattle, showed pictures, and described them, told me what he really enjoyed there.
We watched the first part of a cartoon Malysh i Karslon, kotory zhivet na kryshe, which Max really liked, and we discussed afterwards.

We had to take it easy since Max wasn't feeling well, so we made it fun but still productive.
I feel very fortunate to have Max even for such a short time, and hope we will be able to continue when he is back here.
