Craig and I reviewed geography vocabulary flashcards. We added "cape" and "barrier island" and looked to images, examples and definitions of both. Craig completed the "Welcome to Earth!" activity, which really challenged his mapping skills. He is practicing recall of geographical terms and still needs practice. We continued reading in "Thomas Jefferson and the Tripoli Pirates." We stopped to look at maps and discuss new vocabulary.
Craig completed all the revisions of his Julian Edelman paper today and began typing the final draft of the letter he is going to send him along with his paper.
Today I substituted for Dr. Abby from 9:00 to 10:00. The assignment Craig worked on was an alpha biography. Craig chose 10 letters from the alphabet and associated each with something in his life. His assignment was to write a paragraph on each. He had difficulty thinking of things so I gave him some topics. I asked what sports and sport teams he liked best. He chose football and baseball and one team from each. The first letter in the team name was what he wrote for his alpha biography. The next topic I recommended was “an activity” he liked. He chose “game boy” and a particular game he likes to play. Other topics were: places he visited and left an impression on him - he chose Miami, Disney World, and Loggerhead Marine Life Center. The remaining topics were: relatives, or famous people that were important in his life.

Geography "point to the Latin countries" / Las Formas Review / Colors
Lesson Outline
During our class, Craig and I reviewed his shapes and colors using the Matching Game. Following the rules is much better than it used to be. We used Spanish phrases like: "I won" or "another time" as well as other vocabulary.
He and I got in front of a WORLD MAP and I asked him to point out the Spanish speaking countries of the world to me starting with Africa.
Since Craig is allowed to use a calculator, he made quick work of this Middle School Math With Pizzazz!; "Estimating a Percent of a Number." Page E-24. Good session.
UNIT 1 – MOTION AND ENERGY: Chapter 4 – Sound and Light
Lesson Outline
Craig only: We reviewed transverse and compressional wave properties. Then we created a wave concept map. Then we reviewed the features and parts of waves and labeled them in our science notebooks. We will use this for a study tool. Then we looked at the behavior of waves such as refraction and diffraction of light waves.
Today and Craig and I did a series of exercises using the free weights and resistance bands. I encouraged him that he could take many of these exercises and do them at home.
