Macy worked for half of her class on her mural piece and half of the class on starting a project in realism. She will be working on a still life of an apple. She got through steps one and two which are adding base colors, setting up the cast shadow and creating the outlines for the stem.
Macy rushes through her work and makes simple mistakes. She made all her math corrections and completed all the math work through Thursday. She is an extremely smart girl but needs to slow down and review her work.
Today Macy started with her spelling and vocabulary test. She scored a 95%. She then wrote as many prepositions as she could recall by memory. This was challenging! We spent the rest of our time wrapping up the study of her novel, Caddie Woodlawn. Macy worked through her comprehension and analysis packet. In addition to making sure all questions and vocabulary were addressed for each chapter, we discussed additional literary concepts. These included stereotyping (of the Native Americans), themes (such as gender equality, sibling rivalry, honesty, identity, and change), and figurative language (idioms). Macy worked to provide examples related to the novel in these areas. There was also an activity in which she provided examples of the older language style used in the text and what those statements would mean in the current day.
Macy wrote her Bible verse Matthew 5:1 on the Beatitudes on the white board with her dry erase marker and recited It 3 times with 100% accuracy and wrote it on notebook paper for a grade.
Macy orally answered comprehension questions and vocabulary on the Beatitudes with 90% accuracy. Great work today, Macy!
