First, Chase took an open note exam (15 questions) on different topics of "Lines." Some of the questions correspond to what they would ask on an SAT.
Then, we started looking at the next set of topics involving "Quadratics."
She started with practice problems on systems of linear equations through MyMathLab. We went into solving advanced systems of linear equations (with fractions, etc.) and some practice problems on the SAT using these topics. Then, we went through the concepts of linear inequalities of one and two variables, then a system.
She did a 5 question quiz reviewing the topics we have been working with on a program called MyMathLab. Then, we went through the concepts and practice problems solving systems of linear equations using multiple methods.
Chase will have a quiz to start each class on the topics covered during the last session. She had a quiz with about 4 problems. Then, we continued with lines: finding intercepts, graphing using intercepts, special lines (vertical and horizontal), systems of linear equations, etc.
We did many practice problems from a book, as well as practice from the SAT relating to these topics.
We started with an introduction to each other and the course. She told me she wanted to use some of the information to help her on the SAT in the fall. We started with lines, topics include: slope of a line, graphing using point and a slope, slope-intercept form and standard form of a linear equation, writing equations of lines given two points or a graph, parallel and perpendicular lines, conversion between forms of linear equations, and interpretation of the y-intercept and slope in some application. We did many practice problems from the book, as well as practice from the SAT relating to these topics.
