She found diction that creates the impending tension, creates the growing madness of the character Ernt, and the fear looming in the characters of Mama and Leni. Jaydn also found the metaphors that create imagery. Jaydn then reviewed SAT vocabulary being studied. She wrote a small paragraph about the chapter read, using many of the SAT words in context.

Lesson Outline
After completing our review contrasting the healthy relationships within the plot with Pip's obsession with Estella, we examined the next stunning coincidence in the novel. We discussed why Wopsle's recognizing Compeyson in a dark theatre more than ten years after last seeing him ,also on a dark night, seemed contrived.Matthew offered an interesting observation in this regard suggesting that Dickens may have been attempting to illustrate how the facade of a criminal never fades. We further studied the text to glean clues that Pip's arrogance is fading as he begins to express compassion for Magwitch who risked his life to see Pip. After assigning tonight's reading , I provided instruction on tonight's reading focusing on the Miss Havisham's vanity of arrogance, pride and self importance. Matthew noted how Miss Havisham centers her life on her role as a victim . I added that her persona is a performance of vanity as Miss Havisham fails to recognize others have also suffered great losses. Her pain is not unique. HW- read next two chapters/quiz tomorrow.
