We are working on the analysis of literature, why we read, how we write about literature and its terminology necessary to grasp concepts and written analysis.
The girls and I read and analyzed "Everyday Use" by Alice Walker and discussed the rhetorical tools used to convey the main point of the story. We discussed character, setting, cultural heritage, and human perceptions. We discussed how to approach writing the literary analysis beginning with a concrete thesis that would be then followed up with supporting evidence from the story itself.

Jared did not do too well in this quiz, but I am giving him more time to study. Frankly, I prefer that he eventually learn the words than just give a low grade for not doing well on the first quiz.
