Today Mercer logged in to Outlook and Teams. He sent several emails and established a Teams call with me. We worked on the "White Board" drawing pictures and playing games.

Mercer did a good job typing all credentials in to the computer and working with a mouse. He now has his email set up and can call through Teams. He is a nice young man with a great deal of potential!
We discussed what Dutch will say when delivering his presentation in school next week. We will prepare note pages for next class.

Lesson Comments
Dutch was resistant to presenting his business presentation using PowerPoint. I am still working on getting him mentally prepared to do it next week in front of others.
WE planned to start working on access to Microsoft Office software but were delayed by a technical issue. We discussed email, PowerPoint, and Teams for use in the next class. Mercer has his email and password to begin.

Lesson Comments
Mercer was fairly quiet and appeared to be a bit depressed. His responses to all of my questions lacked any intensity or enthusiasm. That said, he was extremely polite and well behaved. I worked on establishing a rapport with him to facilitate successful future sessions. His email and access to Office 365 apparently was not yet set up so we just discussed doing it in the next class.
Kellan typed a letter to Ms. Debbie using PowerPoint and then attached it to an email and sent it to her.

Lesson Comments
I didn't realize I was subbing for Ms. Debbie until half way through the class when Elise brought a folder to me. I didn't see the assigned reading page until it was late in the session so I had Kellan type a letter to Ms. Debbie to combine computer skills with language arts.
Kellan used PowerPoint to tell a story about himself as a detective who punches out a bad guy.

We worked through office 365 and Kellan logged in to his files and created a new PowerPoint story. He was mostly cooperative but at times wandered off making noises.
Christopher worked on a program to build a customized picture with a Sonic the Hedgehog theme. He imported pictures and superimposed figures into the scene.

After about 20 minutes, Christopher walked out of the African American celebration and went to work on one of the computers in the main room. I followed and helped him work on his picture for about 20 minutes. Then he went back to see the remainder of the presentation.
We worked on reasoning skills along with competition and rules.

Lesson Comments
I'm not sure why, but Sebastian seems resistant to working on the computer with me. During our class he would get up and walk away, saying he wants to go outside or go play with Christopher or talk to Judie. I'm not sure why it does not appear to work but I would suggest avoiding having us together going forward. I work well with other young students (Kellan, Jonathan, Kip) but it does not appear that I can help Sebastian.
Kellan created several new PowerPoint slides with pictures and words to add to his group of stories. We are working towards a biography during future classes.

Lesson Comments
Kellan was acting very tired and would not sit up in his chair. We worked on the science lab computer today and Cabo was in there with Dan at the same time. Cabo and Kellan made negative comments toward each other so I asked him to stop. It was clear from the back and forth that this started before today.
Chris used the touch screen paint program on my computer to create a series of pictures with captions. We then cut and pasted these into a PowerPoint slide show presentation.

Lesson Comments
Christopher seemed tired but was receptive to creating a story in Paint and creating a presentation in PowerPoint. We accomplished a four slide presentation during the hour.
Kellan and I discussed how we might use the computer to create a new story using pictures and words. He wants to tell a story involving something about himself so we will begin working on that next session.

Kellan is often resistant to ideas or developing plans to do something new. I am getting him to decide the content to some degree in order to motivate his interest.
