I gave Sebastian a piece of paper that had a frontal and portrait character layout. Sebastian was instructed to illustrate himself. Once he completed his designs I scanned them into the computer and I worked with him to digitally color them.
In today's lesson Sebastian and I started off class with a little reading going over gravity and some of its influences. This lead us into a discussion about how the moon's gravity influences Earth's tides as it orbits the Earth. We also discussed meteors and meteorites, which are space rocks brought into Earth's atmosphere due to gravity.

Lesson Comments
At the beginning of class Sebastian was on the couch playing a game on his computer. When I politely told him it was time for class he ignored me. However, both Mercer and Matthew were watching him play. Both ignoring their teachers telling them to get to class as well. We all managed to get them to class but it took 5 minutes. Sebastian was in the bathroom from 9:27-9:36.
King Philip's War, the establishment of the New York colony
Lesson Outline
Sebastian read about King Philip's war and learned who King Philip was, who fought in the war and the result of the war. He also learned how the English took New Amsterdam from the Dutch and founded the colony of New York. We continue to practice locating information in the text. Sebastian did well completing a chart on when, where, the founder and the reason for the establishment of the colony.
Spelling – Lesson 30 – Most Misspelled Words – He was introduced to his words and we did a quick review with Sebastian spelling them orally.
Writing – Prose, Drama, and Poems – Sebastian completed a lesson on IXL.com practicing this skill.
Sebastian was seen in his classroom for a 30 minute treatment session. Upon arrival he had his head down in his arms and was rather quiet. He eventually said he was frustrated. OT talked to him about seeming to be in the BLUE zone (Zones of Regulation). Gave him strategies to help get out of that zone. He choose to have a snack to get from the blue to the green zone. During session we went over "motivation" and how the lack of motivation effects us. Towards the end of the session we used a visual timer in room to focus his attention on cursive handwriting. He was instructed to write words in cursive for 5 minutes and then he would be done. He was able to convert 4 words independently from print to script. He required assistance with the rest.
Assignment
Continue to work in cursive and use timer to focus attention
Focus of today's session was meeting with parent to go over results of OT re-evaluation and to discuss progression of student. Discussed areas like fine motor development, how to change and work with his grasp pattern, executive function and following directions as well as accommodation and recommendations for future academic success. Some immediate ideas were having a timer in room to help focus attention for certain periods of time, having brain breaks provided throughout the day, show a model of expected work prior to starting, have student answer What am I doing?, What do I need?, and How can I start? prior to starting an assignment, provide visuals with step-by-step directions if needed, and make sure student understands directions by highlighting and going over them prior to working.
Assignment
