Charlie and I played Guess Who? and I wrote out the questions in Spanish to have a reference for him as he asked the questions to me. He did a great job and his effort was on target. We had a great time and he used his Spanish base to form the sentences and figure out my character.
We discussed the overall class sessions and format. Charlie asked for information about the history of comedy. We reviewed the early history of Charlie Chaplin and watched a brief video of his work. Monty Python's comedy series was also viewed and discussed. This is our last class and I am pleased to have had this time with Charlie.

Charlie is very bright but needs grounding in math facts and some regimentation.
The session began with a letter sound review. Charlie also reviewed closed syllable and vowel consonant e exceptions. He read word cards that included both real and nonsense words. Next, Charlie was given a list of words in which he had to read and then identify the syllable type (closed, vowel consonant e and the exceptions for these syllables). For the post test charting, Charlie read all of the real and nonsense words accurately. Syllable cards were used to practice spelling for the written part of the lesson. Charlie spelled 16/17 real words and 4/5 nonsense words correctly. The lesson concluded with sight word reading and spelling practice. Charlie's work was excellent today.
Charlie made his cell cake today. He used icing for the cytoplasm and different types of candy for each organelle. He placed the organelles accordingly on the cake and then labeled each one. He then explained each organelle and its function.
We began with a discussion of Charlie's summer plans. We then identified the brief history of Fishers Island and those activities he enjoyed most. Charlie expressed a desire to review Greek Mythology. We discussed the twelve main gods and then some of the mythological creatures. Charlie then offered his thoughts about these mythological creatures and showed some theories about the origins of these beings. His presentation was very thoughtful and interesting.
