Lesson Outline

The high road is always the less traveled!

Jackson arrives with a lot on his mind with Life and Baseball. We talk about reporters, anchors, journalist and baseball players focusing on what they CAN control since so many veritable are out of ones ability to impact one way or another. Discuss current stories and stress examples of reporting a story. Since his parent situation was quite obviously paramount on his mind. Use that example to illustrate lesson. There are 3 sides to the story. Dad's version, Mom's version and he as a reporter would have to lay all the facts out down the middle & let the audience decide. I honestly stopped him a couple from telling me details--I don't to know and none of my business. However, rather losing him mentally for the session I morphed what was on his mind into a lesson.

Jackson wasn't quite as focused today as last week but last week is now the gold standard. The Super Bowl also ended well after Midnight Eastern and he was at friends house to 8am class, I'm not shocked. Jackson confidently says he know what to do for his assignment for our next session Thursday: Have the VOLS report all 'edited' with a picture that matches every sentence.

Audable: Meet the Media moment in Real Time. Will resume regular class Monday
Lesson Outline
Instructor Audible away from planned course work to meet the moment. This is Quite a unique situation w/Jackson getting Media attention in real time w/class. So, normal progression of course is delayed to capitalize on this “teachable moment” & a recognition and acknowledgment of how well JACKSON is applying course work into real life media interviews. Additionally, we evaluate the Media not just from the sportscaster position but also by Jackson as the subject and his realization of many of the pitfalls of lazy media members not searching for original ideas/angles to stories as well as not truly listening to his answer to give birth to an unplanned question. Jackson executive in local media our lessons taught for great answers: 3 point answers in sound bite form is learned well & Media gravitates to him already which helps his stock in MLB Draft eyes too as projects a maturity beyond his years especially for teams who may consider him a 'face of the franchise' guy. Jackson continues to impress with his quick thinking, absorption of lessons and his development of new, original ideas!
