Lesson Outline
Abby and I continued and completed the unit review in her vocabulary book. We then continued with a new lesson of words. I introduced the new words and we completed two application activities. Then Abby created flashcards of the words to assist her in remembering the meanings and completing the next activity involving her new lesson words.

Lesson Outline
GT and I discussed the section that he had read for homework. GT then wrote his answer to the essay question for Part 2. This is being used as an evaluation. After GT finished writing, we discussed his answer. We also discussed the textual evidence that he used.We talked about the necessary components of a good essay answer. We talked about some of the overall themes that are beginning to be woven throughout the novel. We began reading Part 3. GT will finish reading Part 3 for homework.

Lesson Outline
Abby and I continued to work on the one unit review section in her vocabulary book. Abby is working in the senior level book and does quite well. We then continued our study of the novel. We discussed the section Abby had read for homework. We also answered the accompanying study guide/discussion questions. We had a detailed discussion of the time period in order to fully understand the author's purpose and the protagonist's actions. Abby will continue to read the novel for homework.

GT and I completed our discussion of Part One of the novel. We discussed the conflict and theme so far. We also completed Part Two of the novel. We discussed it, and GT wrote and answered a brief short essay assessment on both Parts One and Two of the book. We discussed his answers, and he will continue to read the novel for homework,

GT and I talked about the short answer quizzes to Parts One and Two that I posted in goole docs. We then discussed the pages that GT had read for homework. We continued reading the novel stopping to discuss the excellent imagery and literary devices that the author uses throughout. We also continued working in his vocabulary book. We began the section of the lesson consisting of an additional 10 new words. We studied the words and looked up definitions for some of the synonyms and antonyms used in the book. We worked on some of the application activities. GT will finish reading Part 2 of the novel and answer the short quiz response for Part One for homework.

Abby and I are working on the first review section in her vocabulary book. The section set-up mirrors a reading passage on the ACT/SAT. Abby did well. We then continued our study of the novel. We first discussed the chapter Abby had read for homework. We answered the accompanying study guide/discussion questions. We then continued reading the book silently stopping to discuss the setting and time period of the novel. Abby will read more of the novel for homework.

GT and I briefly discussed his reading and writing assignments for the novel. He needs more time to complete them. He will work on them for homework. We then worked in his vocabulary book. I introduced the new words. We read an informational text that used some of there new lesson words. We had a good discussion regarding the reading. We then completed some of the activities that followed to help GT to use and to learn the new words correctly.

REBECCA by Daphne DuMaurier and the Gothic Novel
Lesson Outline
I introduced Abby to the gothic novel. We watched a video that detailed the characteristics of this type of novel. I also provided some notes on the characteristics of the gothic novel. I introduced the novel, and we discussed how it is an example of the gothic novel. I also provided some background information needed to completely appreciate the book. We began reading and annotating the novel. Abby will continue reading for homework.
