Abby and I began a new unit in her vocabulary book. We studied the words. Then we completed the vocabulary activities. Abby does quite well using the advanced level vocabulary words.
GT turned in his analytical essay in correct MLA format. We then began watching a video on the life of William Shakespeare. We stop and discuss interesting facts as they appear on the video. We also talked about the sites shown on the video since GT has been to England this past summer.
Sadlier vocabulary and Brief introduction to JULIUS CAESAR
Lesson Outline
GT and I began doing the review activities for units 1-3 in the vocabulary book. GT did quite well with the activities. We then did a brief introduction to Shakespeare's JULIUS CAESAR. We will begin the introduction to Shakespeare himself tomorrow. GT will finalize his analytical essay and turn it in to be graded for homework.
Abby took a cumulative exam over the novel. It involved multiple choice questions and short essay responses. It took most of the session. We briefly began a new Sadlier vocabulary lesson.

Abby was 30 minutes late for her session, so I subbed with Andrew for Evie then I taught Abby for the rest of our time.
Abby and I worked in her vocabulary book. We were working on Lessons 7-9 Review activities. Abby and I reviewed the words from the three lessons. Abby took notes on the definitions to help her with the activities. She did quite well with the application of the college level vocabulary.
Analytical essay for CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME
Lesson Outline
We reviewed the stages/steps of writing a good essay. We finished the third body paragraph, and GT wrote his conclusion. We then talked about revision and editing skills. GT practiced those skills first on his government essay then on his English one. He will create a Work's Cited page and a title and turn his essay in to be graded on Monday.
Abby and I briefly discussed the cumulative project for THE GLASS CASTLE. She will look over the options that I provided and let me know what she would like to do. Abby had not finished the reading or language sections of her Stanford test from last year. That took most of the class time.

GT and I worked diligently on his essay. GT displays an excellent command of the English language and writes very well. We are working on the use of effective transitions, varying sentence structures and eliminating linking verbs ( using vigorous verbs). We have almost completed the essay. GT will finish the third body paragraph.

GT and I continued with the writing of his analytical essay. Today we focused on transitions. I provided GT with some excellent transitional words and phrases. We also discussed the blending of quotes that he uses for his textual evidence. We wrote the first body paragraph together. He is writing paragraph two on his own.
