We continued our study of the novel. We read and studied chapter VIII. We dissected the critical scene of Gatsby's demise. We discussed Fitzgerald's purpose and language. We discussed the significance of the symbolism. We also annotated to increase our understanding. We finished answering the accompanying study guide questions. The second hour was devoted to vocabulary. We finished the first three-chapter review. We worked through the exercises, and Taylor did quite well using the difficult vocabulary in context.
Olivia and I continued our study of the novel. We discussed the study guide to chapter VII. She had answered the questions for homework. She did an excellent job. We then continued reading chapter VIII. We stopped frequently to annotate and to react to the text.

Taylor and I continued our study of the novel. We finished our discussion of chapter VIII. We answered the questions and used them as a springboard for our discussion. We then started our three chapter vocabulary review. We began to work through the exercises. Taylor defined the words that she didn't know. She works well with the difficult vocabulary.
Olivia and I continued our study of the novel. We finished reading chapter VII, stopping frequently to clarify the plot and characters. We also discussed author's purpose. We continued onto chapter VIII at Olivia's request. She said that it was too good to stop, and she would answer the study guide questions for homework:)
Taylor and I finished working on sets A and B in Chapter three in the vocabulary book. We worked through the cumulative exercises. Taylor did quite well working with the difficult vocabulary. We previewed the next section which is a cumulative review of the first three chapters.
