Olivia and I continued our study of the novel. We discussed chapter V. We used the study guide questions that Olivia had completed for homework as a springboard for our discussion. Olivia presents good interpretations of the novel. We then finally discussed chapter one in the Seidler Vocabulary book. Olivia had completed some for homework, and we discussed that exercise. We then continued with completing the vocabulary chapter while reviewing and learning the difficult vocabulary.

Taylor and I continued our study of the novel. We finished reading chapter six. We answered the accompanying study guide questions noting the important events that occurred. We then previewed chapter seven by studying the new vocabulary for that chapter. We began reading Chapter 7.

We then did a more in-depth study of chapter IV analyzing some important quotes and making a prediction based on the quotes for what will happen next in the novel. We focused on the literary term of foreshadowing. We then previewed chapter 5 and discussed the difficult vocabulary. We began reading the chapter.

Olivia will answer the study guide questions for homework. We also went over her homework in the vocabulary book.She did quite well. We then discussed a new set of words in the Sadlier book. We did one practice exercise together, and Olivia will do one for homework.

Abby and I continued with our discussion of the novel. We previewed the vocabulary for the chapter. We previewed the study guide questions. We read chapter V stopping frequently to discuss characterization, setting and author's purpose. Abby is finally enjoying the novel.

Olivia and I continued with our study of the novel. We began by discussing her homework where she wrote a character description of Myrtle. As usual, she did a great job. We then did an in-depth study of the setting. We discussed the three main settings in the story thus far. We noted their importance to the plot of the novel. We then began to read chapter four of the novel.

Taylor and I continued our discussion of the novel. We read and discussed chapter four stopping frequently to evaluate the symbolism present. We answered the accompanying study guide. We also did a more in-depth study of some prominent quotes in chapter four using them to note the author's use of foreshadowing and to make predictions of what is yet to happen in the novel.

Olivia and I continued our study of the novel. We first discussed the study guide questions to chapter three that Olivia had completed for homework. She does a great job answering the questions. We then did a more in-depth study of the characters as presented in Chapters one to three. We provided textual evidence to support our direct and indirect characterizations. Olivia will complete the assignment for homework. We also briefly reviewed some of the vocabulary, and Olivia will complete one exercise for homework.
