Cabo was reluctant to start his homework. He asked if he could finish something else that he was doing on his computer first. I asked repeatedly if he started anything for history, chemistry, or Spanish, but he said he didn't. By 2:00pm, I then initiated critical thinking exercises sourced from a website.
Today, Cabo was assigned homework in Spanish. He had to read a passage and answer 4 questions provided by Rosie. After that we continued doing critical thinking exercises for the remainder of the period.

Cabo was assigned homework in Spanish only today. We spent the remaining time with critical thinking exercises. His room is a disaster and he continues to sit on the floor in the corner.
Bobby did a seven year comparison on profitability for his smoothie business comparing borrowing the startup funds vs. offering equity. Next class we plan to analyze the results and build a graph.

Bobby was very attentive and engaged in our project. He is getting faster and more proficient using the computer.
Today Cabo was assigned homework in chemistry (worksheet). He worked on the assignment during the first half of class and we did critical thinking exercises for the remainder of the time.

Lesson Comments
Cabo was cooperative and was happy to do critical thinking exercises after his chemistry homework was completed. I remain concerned that Glenn and Franny have not been assigning homework through our process, but given recent developments I know you are in touch with both of them. Rosie and John (Spanish & geometry) are fairly consistent giving homework but did not assign any today. Dan Doran has been very consistent and Cabo did his worksheet today. We did critical thinking exercises the remainder of the session.
Today we made calculations on the percentage of the smoothie business Bobby would have to give up to an investor in order to raise the start up costs. We also calculated the cost of financing start up costs. We learned a few new finance terms including CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate)

Bobby started our session a little late because he was returning from taking the reading portion of the Pert test. He told me he did not pass but did not seem too concerned about it. We worked on his business plan including exploring the cost of financing instead of selling equity in his business (Judie's idea!). While there are certainly longer term advantages, there are some practical concerns near term. Bobby is getting very comfortable navigating Excel.
Today Cabo was not assigned homework, so we worked on critical thinking exercises from the website: www.teach-nology.com. We did three sections of five questions each.

Lesson Comments
Cabo enjoyed doing the critical thinking exercises. He was actually more intuitive than I was on several questions! He is clearly of well above average intelligence and capable of a great deal. We will continue to work these into future sessions when homework is light.
Today we defined terms including valuation, P/E Ratio, Profit Multiple, Sales Multiple, Enterprise Value. Based on the valuation we recently calculated, we estimated the percentage of the company Bobby would need to sell in order to get the startup money needed for his business.

Bobby was very interested in our discussion today. He enjoys how we relate the valuation of his proposed smoothie business to how it is done on the TV show "Shark Tank".
