Lesson Comments
I was impressed with Tristan's focus today for homework. However, there has been a complete change in communication.
Spencer and I continue to have the conversation of choices determine consequences. Spencer confidently determined the missing length of given rectangles. He was tasked with rereading 'The Red Hat' and then answering questions about the genre. Given vocabulary from the story, he did well matching the word with the definition. Additionally, Spencer was asked to write a story that had make-believe elements. He wrote about Gatorade, Powerade and Energy Drink having a conversation and having breakfast together.

Lesson Comments
Spencer does not always listen or follow directions. Sometimes, despite being told/asked something more than once, he does not follow the direction.
What is the farming revolution? Were there two agricultural revolutions or just one? What might be the effects of each? We talked about how different historians label occurrences and trends differently, and have different perspectives and that most historians believe that there were two.
Spencer enjoyed eating the spaghetti and meatballs he made in cooking class. He completed an activity that involved determining the meaning of multi-meaning words. Spencer located all the sh words before reading a passage. Additionally, Spencer practiced finding the area of given rectangles.

Lesson Comments
At times, Spencer disregards what instructions he is given.
We discussed different perspectives on the news: what are the actual facts? How do we know? To whom do we listen? We talked about critical thinking and how to decide for oneself. Then, since we decided how we could interpret the news differently depending on the sources and our own personal views, we were able to talk about what was going on and what possible remedies, if any, were necessary, remembering that we might have different views.
Spencer was motivated to do his science homework first because it involved hermit crabs. He researched three facts about hermit crabs and then came up with three things he would like to know about hermit crabs. Spencer was tasked with finding his way through a maze by solving division facts. He proofread short sentences, correcting for misspelled words, capitalization and end punctuation. Spencer practiced writing his spelling words on the whiteboard.
