went over new homework rating scale, homework, time mangement
Lesson Outline
We went over a new homework rating scale Cabo's teachers will complete each day. Each teacher will record if Cabo 1) completed his homework, 2) partially completed his homework, 3) did not do his homework of 4) no homework was assigned. This way, an objective assessment of homework being completed will be recorded. We looked at the homework for the day and determined the best order to complete the assignments based on time and when assignments are due. Cabo completed his math problems, history and language arts reading. At the end of the hour, we organized his desk area.
Cabo stated that he did not have science homework and that he had finished his English homework. He began by completing his math homework. Together, we finished reading the history pages that were assigned yesterday and due tomorrow. He seemed to find the history text very interesting. We organized Cabo's workspace for tomorrow.

Cabo experiences a sense of accomplishment when he completes a homework assignment. We discussed using this as a self motivating force when tackling assignments from a few classes. We also discussed the benefit of completing assignments that are due the next day before tasks (of similar time requirement length) that are due later in the week. Once he got started, Cabo did well going from one assignment to the next today. He completed his math problems first. He read a chapter for language arts, independently, and then did well when I asked him the study guide questions. Together, we began to read the pages assigned in his history text. Cabo was quite interested in the history text and often commented on what was written. The history assignment is due on Thursday.
