Since Joshua has completed work in Honors Geometry, I decided to give him some advanced material from algebra 2. I chose the sigma notation for sums of series which involves the history of Frederick Gauss as a small boy in a math classroom with a lengthy assignment. There was no assignment for today's lesson.

Joshua and I had a lively discussion about the story and its conclusion.
Since Sam has completed the coursework in Geometry Honors and has not yet taken algebra 1 or algebra 2, I decided it would be good to find out how much algebra he knows by giving him a non-graded test of basic algebra skills. Unfortunately, Sam was not available either in person or virtually, I was unable to deliver that lesson. There was no assignment.

Sam was not available until the session after the one I was scheduled with him.
Since Matthew had completed his work in Honors Geometry in the previous session, I helped him review for his chemistry final exam. We covered Stoichiometry, dilutions of solutions, adhesion vs cohesion, types of chemical reactions, and some other concepts and vocabulary. There was no assignment.

Matthew has an excellent grasp of chemistry but needed some more review to help him prepare for his final exam.
I gave Joshua his test over solid geometry to complete. The ten-question test includes problems on truncated cones, recasting objects in one form into smaller objects with different geometries, and comparison of areas of figures. Joshua finished the test near the end of the session and when I checked his answers, he had a perfect score of 100%. There was no assignment.

Joshua was very focused during the session and was able to see how the techniques were combined to produce the correct answers. He now fully grasps the material in honors geometry and has completed the requirements for the course.

Sam worked well for about 40 minutes but told me he needed to help with some task and was away from class after that. He still accomplished a lot of work on the test.
The activity was field day. I escorted Joshua to and from the park. I also supervised him during the event.

I convinced Joshua that it would be good for him to get some exercise, interact with his fellow students, and breathe some fresh air. He decided I was right.
Baylie had a review sheet for an upcoming test. She had to add and subtract polynomials, use long division, Multiply with the distributive property and FOIL, as well as factor. I worked through examples of all of them for her.
