The plan was to give Samantha her test on polynomial expressions and equations which consisted of 15 questions about the construction of polynomials from their solutions, solving polynomial equations, using the rational root theorem, and dividing polynomials by binomials with synthetic division. Sam had started the test during our last session but didn't finish it so she will have to continue when I next teach her. There was no assignment.

Lesson Comments
Samantha should concentrate on increasing her attendance so that she won't have to spend too many days making up her required classroom hours.
Today, Sam and I read about the meaning of the name Samantha. We read, “Behind the Name: meaning, origin and history of the name". Sam was able to read out loud independently and recognize NEW vocabulary. Expose to new vocabulary- Listening/Speaking/Reading) and learning more about basic sentence structures... She improved her reading comprehension skills by reading the patterns of language from the text.
Also, we started our Daily Dictionary activity. In order to be more fluent, vocabulary knowledge must increase. Sam and I highlight 10 words (A) we use frequently. We practiced pronunciation and spoke about the meaning of each word. (definition)This is a nice activity to do daily. She wrote the words on paper.
TEXT book: After that, we worked on the Alphabet (pronunciation) reviewed numbers (dates/years), days of the week... Practice conversation... Greetings/ Daily Activities...
Assignment
Write a sentence with each word. (daily Dictionary activity)
Sam and I discussed the writing process. I detailed the steps that she needed to do to produce a good literary analysis. We discussed transitions. We discussed introduction of the textual evidence and then the necessary analysis to follow it. All details should support the thesis. We then wrote the second body paragraph together.
Assignment
Finish her literary analysis to turn in for a grade.
I Introduce to Sam, Adam Sandler’s biography (one of her favorite actors) - (Part 1/open eyes and heart to people who have made a difference in the world). We learn past and present tense. Reading Biographies in Spanish is a wonderful way to improve language ability and develop vocabulary. Sam really enjoyed reading it. The goal of this activity was to highlight new vocabulary and promote self-discovery. Also, we practiced pronunciation (Numbers, years, and letters)
Sam is having a little difficulty writing this paper. We discussed different ways to approach the analysis. We talked about the structure of the the introduction, body paragraphs and conclusions.
We talked about what she needs to do to continue with the paper. We practiced again blending the quotes that she chose for her support. We discussed the need to explain the analysis of those quotes/support in her body paragraphs.
Sam and I discussed again the requirements for her literary analysis. We talked about how she needs to approach the writing of the paper. She needs to use her outline as a guide to use her quotes as support for her analysis. We wrote the introduction together.
Energy conservation was reviewed and the physics of a vacuum was introduced. Ancient philosophy was tied into modern physics with an explanation of the big bang theory and the quantum mechanics of empty space.
To tie in the material covered in the earlier lesson in the College Math class, we explored the relationship between geometry and sound. I demonstrated how the complex geometric forms and patterns seen in math class are the same as the ones formed through the constructive and destructive interference of the sound waves seen in cymatics and acoustic dynamics.
