Santino was greeted in his classroom for the last day of school for the year. He was happy upon arrival. He greeted promptly. He had eaten prior to my session. In preparation for summer break, the school was offering snow cones outside and some fun water play. We went outside to play on the playground, water play as well as join in the snow cones with some peers and teachers. Santino was hesitant however willing to taste the snow cone. I will go into depth in the feeding therapy note. It should be noted, Santino has been very calm on the playground. He enjoys sitting at the top of the slide and "taking in" his environment. He appears very regulated outside/soon after going inside from being outside. When going back to the classroom, we covered many of the goals covered this year including using verbs, following directions given 2-step directions, object function, answering wh questions with visual support, and expanding overall utterance length. It was a good session. Overall, Santino made a lot of great progress in the area of speech and language this school year.

The last session of the school year commenced with Chris sharing that he "thinks that he is a better thinker now " and that he "thinks of the the things that we talk about." He went on to share that the new "Thor " movie trailer had been released and was excited to share it today. This afforded an excellent opportunity to expand on aspects of story line development, inferencing and perspective taking. Attentional shifting was decreased today, as shared reference was sustained for more lengthy periods and conversational reciprocity was also sustained for increased cycles.
Topic discussion expanded into the organization of the "YouTube"projects that he has planned. Use of topic shifting phrases was strong this session. Review of target phoneme /s/ production was also a focus this session. The session closed with Chris sharing the reminder to be sure to "remember to talk to mom about the summer schedule so that we can meet soon." Strong session to close the school year.

Santino was greeted in the classroom with good inflection and fleeting eye contact. This is the last week of school so we did some fun summer activities to target many of our goals. We started with a book about summer/beach. Santino did well with the book activity - benefiting from prompting for answering questions and maintaining attention during the book. We went outside and there were some small water activities that some peers were playing. Santino and I played on the playground, did some climbing/jumping activities, and played in the kiddie pool (which he really appeared to enjoy). Increasing utterance length with requesting and commenting was targeted as well as answering and asking questions. We quickly covered identification of emotions. We did a puzzle activity that was based on object function and "What goes together". He did well with this given a visual field of 4 for identification purposes. Overall, it was a good session.

Today was my last session with Richard for the school year. He has been an absolute pleasure to work with and watch grow this school year. In reference to his speech and language skills - Richard has made great gains. We targeted /th/ articulation goals at the final position of words this session. This was a little harder for him today because of the position of the /th/. He worked really hard with that task. We informally covered many of our language goals we have been addressing throughout the year including the accurate use of auxiliary verbs, past tense verbs (regular and irregular) as well as rate of speech to improve overall intelligibility. I am happy with RIchard's progress in all areas of Speech Therapy! Well done, Richard!

Chris was excited to meet today, as he most often is. He happily laughed as we greeted and then he rapidly began sharing the many thoughts, ideas and topics that were on his mind. He lightheartedly joked as we re-visited the familiar notions of speaker-listener turn taking, topic shifting strategies and the key aspects of perspective taking. Speaker -speaker overlap subsequently decreased and the use of familiar, as well novel topic shift phrases were utilized for the duration of the session. Use of cohesive ties was strong today. Target /s/ phoneme production was strong given reminders. At the close of the session Chris expressed concern that Wednesday's session would be the last session of the school year. He asked if we could see each other over the summer as well. We discussed that this was certainly an option depending on the schedule, and that we can discuss with his parents. Strong session.
