Today's lesson consisted of making Breakfast dishes. We chose to make strawberry infused crepes with mixed fruit and homemade whip cream. After all the prep work, which included washing and cutting the fruit and making the strawberry infused milk and the batter, we ran out of time to create the crepes and we will be cooking them during our next session.
Amira spent today's class working on the Stanford Achievement Test. I gave her the option to continue with the Reading Comp. portion or to begin the Social Science portion of the test. She chose to begin with the Social Science portion of the test and she completed this portion of the test. It was also explained to Amira that she has unlimited time to complete the test.
Amira completed her graphic organizer of the five kingdoms and their distinguishing characteristics. She then learned how to use a dichotomous key to classify different organisms.
For our second session Amira made slime. She had to manipulate certain variables in order to create the slime she wanted.
Amira read Ch 6 of her novel. Throughout, she discussed literary techniques the author used to retain knowledge. Afterward, she used context clues to define words; these were checked for accuracy. Amira used the words she needed to revisit in sentences correctly and applied them successfully.
