Amira started the session by doing a carbon footprint calculator questionnaire. She was able to determine her carbon footprint and we discussed the significance of it. I then introduced Amira to the binomial nomenclature system that is used to classify living things. She also learned how to use a dichotomous key which is a method used in classification.
In this activity, Amira focused on the Cartesian coordinate system because we are starting our study of linear functions and their graphs. We started graphing a linear function using a T chart.
Today, Abby made a spinach and tomato salad along with protein based pasta with veggies. We discussed making different pasta dishes which used different dressings and veggies. After selecting her vegetables she pan seared them, added the pasta and dressed it with Italian dressing and different cheeses.
Amira read chapter three of the novel and discussed various elements the author used to develop style. Afterward, Amira completed a literary chart, cited specific elements the author used, and explained the literal meaning of the figurative language. Then she applied the techniques by writing in her journal.
