In this activity, Rory solved systems of equations using substitution.

Rory and I discussed business models and the operational structure of online, music streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music. The article we referenced for discussion explored how these companies utilize algorithms to categorize songs for display to their users.

I believe knowledge about everything that goes on behind the scenes of these companies is valuable for him to know so he can leverage it to his advantage as he learns and grows in his music career.

In this activity, Rory solved Systems of linear equations using the method of elimination.

Today was the first session between Rory and I. We discussed his interests within science and I also shared my past experience in the field. We will be discussing current and local events for the first unit of the course while I evaluate his prior knowledge. Today we began to discuss Lake Okeechobee.

Rory wrote a good film review of the movie we watched last week. He looked on line to supplement his memory for specific names and places. We then began watching the film"The Outsiders" which is also based on SE Hinton's famous novel. Rory is enjoying the film and asking a lot of questions about characters and time period.

Student Absent

Rory and I read a little of the novel. We then finished watching the movie. I also explained how to complete the movie review. Rory began writing it.

Rory was instructed to go to his web page, open the John Buscemi page, and continue editing the page.

Rory was instructed to go the student website and complete the final details for his Jon Buscemi page. I did a review of the page for content and functionality and had Rory save the page for final publication.
Rory moved on to his Kaws page, imported the format of the Pusha T page, and began formatting images for the page. Rory uploaded the newly formatted image, placed the image and saved his work.

Rory and I met for the first time to get an introduction to both the class and each other. We had a great conversation about how I foresee Economics relating to his passions, interests, and creating a profitable (and enjoyable) business for himself in the music industry.

I'm hoping this class will provide some valuable insight into how he can structure his business and monetize it in a way that aligns with his passion and adding value to those around him.
