I provided Rory with a form for reviewing the film. We discussed the requirements for successfully completing it. We also discussed the accompanying study guide to FREEDOM WRITERS. We then continued watching the film.
Rory had read the book Renaissance man and began to watch the film so that he could complete a project based on the story. We continued to watch the film stopping to discuss various themes throughout the hour.

Lesson Outline
Rory wrote a reflective response on the FREEDOM WRITERS film. We are going to begin our study of the book. We began watching RENAISSANCE MAN which contains a lot of lines from Shakespeare's plays. We will include some of those excerpts in our poetry study.
Rory worked out 16 exercises on Solving Systems of Equations. Some of the exercises were direct, where he had to simply add the equations to eliminate one of the variables. Others required him to multiply one or both equations by a factor so that he would have opposite coefficients on one of the variables. Rory did a good job with the work.
Rory and I continued watching the film. We discussed some of the poetry recited in the movie. We also discussed what he will write as a reaction to the films. He will bring his computer Monday to complete the assignments.
