Rory and I brainstormed for the writing assignment on the movies. We decided to read THE FREEDOM WRITERS book. We started to watch the DEAD POETS' SOCIETY. We will study the poems featured in this film.
Rory and I continued watching the film. We discussed the different characters. Rory agreed to read the novel. We will do some journal writing in response to it.
Rory was instructed to open up the student website and continue working on his Jon Buscemi page. Rory was able to complete the page and prep for the third page of his website.
I gave Rory a dozen trinomials to factor. He did well with finding the factors, but needed some correction with the signs on the factors. I showed him some patterns and tricks to help him remember if the signs should be the same or different, as well as which signs to put on which specific numbers. I also gave him an example of factoring ax^2 + bx + c, in which he has to find factors of a and c that will multiply and combine to get b.
Rory and I began a new film FREEDOM WRITERS. The film is based in California about students who hate school and their teacher who changes their minds. He likes the film. We talked about reading the book also. Rory will be writing a response to this film and the last one.
Rory completed the film Killing Mr. Griffen which aligned with the book that he was reading in class. He began to brainstorm ideas for a summary about the theme and plot of the movie.
Rory was instructed to open up his Web page, open the page editor for his Pusha T page and complete any final content of the page. Rory saved his work and went back to his main page to select his next documentary figure. Rory chose to work on Jon Buscemi's page. Rory opened the editor for the page and cloned the layout from his Pusha T page. Rory was instructed to find three images of Jon Buscemi, resize them in Photoshop, and import them to the page. Rory began additional edits by changing the header and working on the 1st bio of the page. He saved his work for the next session.
Rory and I are doing a film study. We continued watching the movie based on a young adult novel. We talked about the characters. We also started to brainstorm what Rory will write for his analysis of the film.
