Today was our final day of instruction with a review of our recent geometry lessons. Zeta answered numerous questions related to finding the area of parallelograms and triangles, finding missing measurements with given areas, names and parts of 3-D solids, finding the surface area of polyhedrons, polygons on coordinate planes, and volume with fractions.
Zeta enjoyed a 'Brain Pop' video on different types of writing. She was tasked with matching different types of writing with examples. Zeta wrote an essay on what she hoped The Benjamin School would be like. She did well writing a topic sentence and supporting details/examples. Given short passages, Zeta successfully drew conclusions from the text.

Zeta was excited to show me her summer reading book and new highlighters she received to complete the accompanying assignment.
Zeta took the surface area quiz this morning to complete our recent lessons. She answered questions related to the surface area of rectangular prisms, square prisms, and triangular pyramids, found surface areas using nets and by adding faces, and solved surface area word problems. Zeta scored an 80%, making a few careless calculations. We finished with graphing polygons, with given coordinates, onto a coordinate plane.
Cast Your Vote - Politics and Public Policy
This activity provided Zeta with an introduction to the electoral processes of the American political system. She discovered what it takes to become an informed voter — from knowing where they stand on important issues to uncovering what they need to know about candidates. She went through simulations, presentations, vocabulary-building activities and lastly a mock election.
