Zeta and I continued working on how to find the surface area of polyhedrons. Zeta completed lessons related to triangular and rectangular prisms, square pyramids, and cylinders, finding the surface area of given figures as well as applying the known formulas to solving surface area word problems.
1.Zeta completed many Social Studies review activities using https://mrnussbaum.com/games/social-studies-games These interactive activities were all reviewing the material taught throughout the year.
2.She played an interactive Civics game titled - “Win the White House – Presidential Election Game” https://www.icivics.org/node/67038/resource
3.Story telling- examples of stories told on the Oregon Trail – “The Golden Arm”. She listened to two versions and answered many questions about the story as well as compared the two versions.
This morning Zeta completed the weather unit quiz and we reviewed the questions together. A few topics required additional instruction, but overall she demonstrated a very strong understanding of the concepts, vocabulary of weather and climate. We ended the unit with a couple fun learning activites including a vocabulary matching game and puzzle.
Lessons 7 and 8 from Alfred's Snare Drum Method Book 1.
Lesson Outline
We reviewed lesson 6 on dotted notes, and proceeded to play all exercises and combination studies for Lessons 7 and 8 on sixteenth notes and sixteenth note/eighth note combinations.
Assignment
Practice rudimental strokes: Singles, doubles, flams, and buzzes.
Zeta went to the student webpage, she opened the page editor and we worked together to upload a page template to create her home page. I had Zeta search for an image that she would like to use for the header of the page, I resized the image and she placed the image in the top section of the webpage. Zeta saved her work for the next class.
The z and / keys were introduced today. Zeta practiced typing the z and / keys along with the other letters/keys she has learned. She read a passage about Memorial Day and then used textual evidence to answer questions about the text. We reviewed showing rather than telling when writing. Given sentences, Zeta identified the statements that showed the reader rather than just told the reader. She was tasked with revising statements from telling to showing by adding details, descriptions and action.
Zeta and I reviewed the formulas for finding the surface area of polyhedrons before applying them to shown figures. Then, she completed correlating lessons on Khan academy related to triangular and rectangular prisms, square pyramids, and cylinders. Zeta matched nets to their polyhedrons, found surface area using nets, matched expressions to surface areas by adding the faces, and found the surface area of real world objects with given measurements.
