Today Bella completed exercises from the text dealing with the subjunctive. The book has several charts for the conjugation in this tense that may help students who learn in a more visual manner.
The exercises were done as a means of providing ample practice for Bella in this mode that confounds many Spanish students.
We learned about contractions: a + el= al/ de + el = del.
We then used these contractions with sentences from the workbook. He then completed a quiz about what he learned.
We learned chores in Spanish and completed the activity book. Then, he had to create sentences with past tense verbs and chores from Latin American countries.
Bella was to learn to about the books approach to the subjunctive - comparing the text's way of presenting it with the ways that we had discussed it in the first semester.
Bella was given time to work on the Cerego language program. We then dove into the text - reading from it and discussing the vocabulary and sentence construction found there.
Matthew read a traditional recipe in Spanish. He then answered questions about it.
While we were reading, I would point out patterns for him to notice. For example, there was a list of more than 10 formal commands (one of the conjugations of this chapter) that were used.
Bella was given the opportunity to work on some of her quizzes for her quiz project.
She reported not having learned about direct object pronouns in her prior Spanish classes. We took the time to read the entire lesson on this subject. She was given examples and she worked on the direct object pronoun questions.
Bella was given some time in class to work on her Spanish quizzes. She completed 2 quizzes during class. She benefited from having a teacher present while she worked on these specific quizzes.
After completing this assignment, she was given the opportunity to explore on a Spanish search engine.
She chose to read about celebrities. She commented on how quickly the newscasters on the channel speak.
