Marcel performed his poetry piece again so that the piece could be recorded as an artifact of his great work.
We then studied the considerable number of vocabulary words that he is learning.
He pointed out how often the vocabulary is repeated in the text. I have heard Marcel on multiple occasions utilize the vocabulary and phrases that we are learning in class. Marcel does an excellent job applying what he has been taught.
We then read from the book and discussed the story of the book up to this point.
Marcel and I worked on his current vocabulary list making sure to organize his cards as we went along.
Marcel identified new vocabulary from the story that he needs to define.
We reviewed the page from the class before and then read a new page. Marcel is now prepared to do more of the work independently. I gave him a reduced amount of time to work on the new words.
Assignment
Marcel is to finish working on the vocabulary from the story
Marcel completed a practice presentation of his memorized poem. Again he was given specific feedback. He did a wonderful job. He implemented each and every bit of feedback that I gave him following the prior practice session.
This dramatically increased the theoretical grade. Today he would have earned a 89.5% had it been the graded performance.
We then looked up vocabulary, read a page from his book.
I then allowed him to do a practice performance. He was given extensive detailed feedback as to how his performance would have been graded were it the graded performance.
I checked his vocabulary homework. He earned a 100%.
We reviewed homework and held a conversation using the correct subjunctive form of verbs. We wrote 20 sentences on slogans and completed exercises 8 and 9.
We reviewed homework and the subjunctive verb tense. We made a chart and wrote sentences in the three categories using the correct form of the subjunctive tense.
Marcel memorized his poem for 3 minutes. I then gave him an opportunity to practice delivering his poem as he will next week for a grade.
I then read the next page of Gato Mog aloud to Marcel. As Marcel was listening, he was asked to count the repeats of the vocabulary that he had learned from his prior page. There were over 20.
Marcel then read the passage in his head and identified new words.
He created note cards and looked up as many of the words as time would permit.
Marcel was given 5 minutes to work on memorizing the poem for which he is responsible. He created flash cards of the vocabulary list from the prior session. We reviewed his flashcards. We moved on to the next page of the book. We took turns reading.
