In this activity, GT worked on quadratics to solve for zeros and vertex. The quadratics in this lesson were more complicated to work with because the leading coefficient was not equal to one.
In this activity, GT worked on several quadratics in which he had to graph the function showing zeros and vertex. He determined zeros and vertex using several methods.
In this activity, GT reviewed his work determining the zeros and also worked on finding the vertex using -B/2A and also by the method of completing the square.
In this activity, we started our review of quadratics. This started with a review of determining the zeros by graphing calculator, factoring, quadratic formula, and completing the square.

SKYPE: One Strange Rock: Gasp. -
GT watched the first chapter of ‘One Strange Rock’. Narrated by astronauts, the National Geographic documentary addresses a very fundamental question raised by humankind’s exploration of the Cosmos: Why is the Earth, the third rock from the sun, so very different from the rest of our solar system? This episode describes the role of bacteria in the development of our present atmosphere, as well as the role of diatoms and green plants in a delicate balancing act. It also shows how the water cycle works to create the largest river in the world, which exists in vapor form and sits above the Amazon rainforest; a literal River in the sky. Gt and I discussed how the kingdoms Protista, Bacteria, and Archaebacteria were presented in this program. Homework: Complete a series of questions about the program.

TEAMS / SKYPE: Taxonomy / Plants
GT was quizzed on the seven taxa, and criteria of membership of each. We then examined the kingdom Plantae. I showed how this kingdom is further classified into two phyla (vascular and non-vascular), and into classes of vascular plants (sporophytes, gymnosperm, and angiosperm). I provided examples for each, and illustrated how the use of Latin helps determine the characteristics of each taxon. We continued with the basic anatomy of a plant, including organs and tissues. We reviewed the needs of plants to perform photosynthesis and discussed the manner by which water and CO2 is transported. Finally we examined the reproductive organs of the conifers and flowering plants.

Lesson Comments
This session began in TEAMS, but due to a power shortage we were forced to switch to SKYPE half way through.
GT and I discussed the pages in the book "Think & Grow Rich" that we've read up to this point. Mainly, we compared his personal beliefs to what we think the author is trying to convey when it comes to your thoughts becoming things.
He spent the remainder of the time taking a quiz on Monetary and Fiscal Policy.
GT and I completed one test-taking strategy in his vocabulary book. The activity mirrors that of the ACT/SAT reading test. It also employs the unit's vocabulary words. We then continued reading and discussing the novel. I reviewed the skill of annotating a text for understanding. GT will complete reading Part One of the novel for homework. He is to annotate the pages and be prepared with textual evidence to discuss the main theme thus far in the book. I will give him two essay questions to answer about Part One to serve as his assessment of the section.
