Class began with a review and discussion of the developing conflicts in Syria. We then continued our review of Chapter 4. GT then continued his work on the term paper.
We began with a review and discussion of the impeachment inquiry. Next, we continued a review of Chapter 4, Civil Liberties. We then reviewed GT's term paper progress. GT used the remaining time working on the project. As always, he was enthusiastic and involved.
Today GT got a 100% on his ecology vocab quiz! We then reviewed population dependent and independent limiting factors, bioaccumulation, and biomagnification. We then watched a video on hydrothermal vents and discussed the significance of the discovery of the existence of these communities based on chemosynthetic producers.

Lesson Outline
First we watched and discussed videos on the carbon cycle, nitrogen cycle, and phosphorus cycle. GT learned about the Haber process, and we looked at a human population graph to help understand the significance of its development. We then watched a video on Fritz Haber and his evil genius role in WWI and II. We then had a lesson on population dynamics and limiting factors. This lead to questions about extinction, so GT got a mini-lesson on the Permian and KPg extinctions.
GT watched "Introduction to Ecology" video by Teacher’s pet and wrote down answers to focus questions pertaining to the video. GT learned about niches, and was able to identify examples of generalized and specialized animals. We then looked at a diagram comparing bioaccumulation & biomagnification. We discussed the meaning of these terms, then watched a video about it. The video misused the term "toxin" so we looked up the definition and talked about how it is a frequently misused term in popular culture.

Lesson Outline
We reviewed the stages/steps of writing a good essay. We finished the third body paragraph, and GT wrote his conclusion. We then talked about revision and editing skills. GT practiced those skills first on his government essay then on his English one. He will create a Work's Cited page and a title and turn his essay in to be graded on Monday.

GT and I worked diligently on his essay. GT displays an excellent command of the English language and writes very well. We are working on the use of effective transitions, varying sentence structures and eliminating linking verbs ( using vigorous verbs). We have almost completed the essay. GT will finish the third body paragraph.

GT and I continued with the writing of his analytical essay. Today we focused on transitions. I provided GT with some excellent transitional words and phrases. We also discussed the blending of quotes that he uses for his textual evidence. We wrote the first body paragraph together. He is writing paragraph two on his own.
In this activity, GT completed the exercise on solving exponential and logarithmic equations using his eight rules of logarithms. We also used the TVM program on the graphing calculator to solve and set up various financial problems including annuity savings.
