Religion: Watch 2 YouTube videos showing an interview with the principal of SCS and Father Gregg and Sister Carole. The interviews were about how each of these religious people answered the call to their vocation. Jonathan drew a picture to send to them in order to thank them for all they do for the school and parish community. (I scanned the picture to his teacher.)

ILA: Using the opinion writing graphic organizer, write a rough draft on the topic "Wendell's Valentine's Day Surprise". iReady for 15 minutes.

Jonathan worked on learning to draw complex pictures using a computer website that helps him to follow along. He was able to effectively draw statues from Chile, and then found them on Google Earth.

Jonathan was excellent today. He developed computer skills by selecting, backing up, and following directions supplied by artists on the web. We drew several pictures and used the computer as the teacher.

ILA: Tuesday makeup work - Write a paragraph telling why SCS is the best. Include at least 3 reasons why and use a strong opening and closing sentence. Wednesday work - Opinion writing: Brainstorm - The topic is Wendell's Valentine's Day Surprise. What do you think Wendell should give his best friend for Valentine's Day? Use the graphic organizer to write your opinion. Write 3 reasons that support the opinion. Restate the opinion for the closing sentence. View the Fundations video from Tuesday. Go on iReady for 15 minutes.

Religion: Catholic Schools Week theme for today is "Celebrating the Nation". We read about the American Flag. Completed a blank flag by filling in the stars and coloring the flag the appropriate colors. Final activity was for Jonathan to re-design the American Flag to represent him. He was to choose colors for the stripes and choose an object to put in the corner box of the flag. We did not have time to finish this activity. We will finish it tomorrow.

Photoshop masking layers
Lesson Outline
Jonathan's lesson planned today was working with masked layers within a print. He chose to work with a pokeman image motif. Jonathan imported a masked background layer to give his artwork a 3dimensional layout. He will continue to build more layers until his final result.
