Sadee was not present for her session today. We were to complete her journal, spelling, and science assessments. We were also scheduled to enjoy some St. Patrick’s Day stories and themed contraction activity, as well as practice a lot of addition and subtraction with regrouping and borrowing in fun ways!

We were notified yesterday that Sadee would not be in school today.
Math: Today we completed lesson 103. The instructional portion of the lesson focused on multiplication x 1 and x 100. We also completed lesson 104, which focused on perimeter. Her Guided Class Practice / Homework textbook pages tasked her with measurement (in centimeters), addition word problems, drawing pictures to represent 3-digit numbers and writing in expanded form, finding the number from a written form presentation, identifying solid shapes, counting money, estimating length, multiplication, and mixed addition and subtraction. Lesson 104 included finding the perimeter of triangles as well as -7 and -8 fact practice. We worked through various number pattern activities, as well. Bible: Sadee scored a 100% on her Bible recitation! ELA: We began with a spelling assessment in which she scored a 100% on the words and her dictation sentences. We wrapped up our study of Bread and Jam for Frances with a comprehension activity in which Sadee filled in the blanks and wrote responses in complete sentences. To conclude her science study of nutrition, Sadee did a fantastic job on her assessment and also wrote a fun journal entry with the prompt, “Thank you, God for food!”. She wrote 15 food items in alphabetical order with only one error.
Spelling, Subtraction, Compound Words, Place Value
Lesson Outline
Sadee and I began our session with spelling - writing each spelling word one time. Sadee then completed a timed subtraction activity - completing 100 problems in ten minutes. Sadee then completed an activity on compound words - identifying the compound word. Lastly, Sadee began working on an activity focusing on place value.
We watched two videos this morning, 'Grow Strong! A Book About Healthy Habits,' and 'I will Never Not Ever Eat A Tomato,' By Lauren Child. After discussing the main points of the video along which Sadee read out loud, she worked on a penmanship sheet, on which she worked diligently and with accuracy. This was followed by two more activities on which she was tasked with categorizing foods into their appropriate food groups and marking an X over those items that did not belong, and an 'Organizing the Food Group' worksheet. Sadee demonstrated good recall skills and comprehension as evidenced by her work and response to questions.

Sadee and the Wainwrights will not be in tomorrow.
Math: Today we completed lesson 102. The instructional portion of the lesson focused on measurement of inches, centimeters, feet, and meters. We watched a Brain Pop Jr. learning video for additional examples. Her Guided Class Practice / Homework textbook page tasked her with measurement (in centimeters), addition word problems, least to greatest with money, rounding to the nearest 10, completing number patterns, finding the missing symbol (+, -, or x), and mixed addition and subtraction problems presented horizontally. We worked to find relevant information in the problem-solving questions. Additionally, we completed a timed math subtraction practice of 100 problems. She scored a 99% in 7 ½ minutes! Bible: Today Sadee practiced her Bible verse with a fill-in-the blank activity to promote memorization. We also read the Bible story of David and Abigail. ELA: We began with spelling practice in which Sadee wrote her spelling words two times each in her notebook. We worked together to generate a question and a sentence using a spelling word in each. For her phonics and language textbook work Sadee marked special sounds and vowels in words, added suffixes -ing and -er to words, wrote sentences using “swimming” and “vacation”, finished sentences with the correct pictured item, generated a list of 4 animal names, matched homophones, wrote two sentences about her favorite animal (horse), and drew a great picture of her on a horse! We read the book Bread and Jam for Frances one last time for the week. Sadee has done a nice job increasing her fluency with repeated readings. She is good to stop and ask questions or for assistance in decoding unfamiliar words (whereas some children just keep reading). Finally, we wrapped up our day with creating compound words. Sadee then began writing a sentence for each compound word with a requirement to include at least one adjective as well. We are working on varying the subject of her sentences.
Sadee began class with a tire climb/cardiovascular warmup. Next, she participated in baseball hitting practice. Lastly, Sadee partook in a fun, competitive game of soccer.
Sadee completed the puzzle word search for 25 spelling words. After, she completed 2 pages of Math and read a book called, "The day the crayons went home".
This morning started with videos. The videos were: "Fruits and Vegetables- Vegetables- Kids Animation Learn Series," by Appuseries, and "Oliver's Vegetables," by Starlight Learning. These focused on the food group named. Next, Sadee worked on material in her binder. She worked on a penmanship page about vegetables and then identified illustrated foods, marking them as requested and categorizing them into fruits, vegetables, grains, proteins, and dairy foods. Sadee did well on this activity.
