Ben was tasked with completing 2 reading passages on ReadTheory.org and to write in his score on each of the passages, upon completion, for tracking purposes; however Ben stated he was very tired and needed to rest. I encouraged him to attempt some of the work and he made an effort to work on 2 rounds of vocabulary on Vocabulary.com. When asked to document his scores following completion, I noted that he wrote a 0 for each, despite offers of supports while he worked on the assignment.

I subbed again for Kalee this morning, Thursday, 5-18-23, from 9 -9:45. Ben only attempted the vocabulary section and I noticed that he got a zero on both. Her then said he was very tired and needed to rest. He shut the light, placed his head on the desk, and slept for about 15 minutes before resuming work at the end of the class.
Ben was permitted to prioritize the work that needs to be completed for class. In this morning's class, he worked on the assignment that is worth 30 % of his grade. Additionally, Ben has been working on a daily plan for intensive reading, completing reading and vocabulary passages on ReadTheory.org, and Vocabulary.com, respectively. He's been recording his scores on paper and has also been asked to record them on Teams.

I subbed for Kalee again this morning, Wednesday, 5-17-23, from 8:15 - 9:00. Ben stated he was annoyed with the work that has been requested and grew agitated when given work. I offered his supports, if needed.
Ben completed two reading passages on ReadTheory.org. He worked independently and wrote in his score on each of the passages for tracking purposes (50 and 40%, respectively). Ben also completed one of two rounds of vocabulary on Vocabulary.com and was asked to document both scores on this assignment once completed. Ben got 7/10 questions (or 70%) of the vocabulary questions correct on part I of this assignment; he then requested a break before resuming work but agreed to complete the remaining section before the end of the day.

This morning, Richard practiced spelling with play dough. He used cookie cutters to stamp out the letters with which to spell words. This activity not only helps facilitate spelling skills, but also helps improve his fine-motor coordination. Next, I read a grandparent book to him, "Now One Foot, Now the Other," by Tomie DePaola. Richard remained interested in the book and made accurate predictions. We finished up the session creating a birthday card for Mr. Marcus.
