For today's review, Kellan practiced using the fraction strip chart to answer fraction comparison questions. Then, our lesson continued adding fractions with like denominators. Kellan used addition to find the sum of two or three fractions with like denominators while using the fraction strips to model the joining of fraction segments.
Kellan read pages 185-7 in the textbook. We discussed Uranus and Neptune, and he drew diagrams of Earth rotating on its axis. He analyzed a diagram of sunrise, midday and sunset occurring due to Earth's rotation on its axis.
Kellan reviewed his vocabulary words, located Germany on the map, and continued to learn about what contributions came out of Germany during the Reformation. He drew caricatures of the states and capitals of Alaska and California.
Kellan began with the daily review questions on elapsed time and solving a two-step division word problem. He also worked on finding solutions to in/out tables with all operations with the remainder being assigned for homework. Finally, we continued to work on adding fractions with like denominators. Kellan used fraction strips to help find the sums of fractions.
Kellan will work on his designs- sketches and illustrations for his comic book, The Heroics- Army of Villains, Part 2.
