Lesson Comments
Kellan is reading with great expression. When he dictates his stories for me to type he is very expressive. That seems to be carrying over to his reading.
To begin, Kellan and I reviewed the difference between perimeter and area and how they can be found before Kellan answered questions related to each. Then, Kellan worked on writing equivalent fractions from given models and how to break apart 100 into quarters and halves. Finally, Kellan took a 0 - 12 facts check and was assigned an additional check for homework.
Kellan reviewed fossil fuels and read a diagram showing how coal forms. He watched a video about how coal forms. He completed his illustration of fossil fuels.
Reading focus - multi-syllabic words and context clues. We worked on pronunciation with difficult words today. We also studied using context clues as a way to determine the meaning of unfamiliar words.
Kellan wrote his spelling words in sentences. We used the cootie catcher to review literary elements of The Watsons Go to Birmingham. We started reading the new Dog Man book.
