He colored pictures two different colors to model two different fractions before determining whether the fractions represented the same amount of a whole and were equivalent. For homework, Kellan was assigned 3-digit subtractions problems.
We reviewed practices for good readers. Then we read the short story, "How to Ignore a House on Fire." We focused on Kellan slowing down for proper pronunciation of words. He also used a ruler to track his reading.

Kellan began a new unit of study pertaining to the Reformation. He learned new vocabulary words with connections to the Reformation. He reviewed the Bill of Rights he has learned. He made new caricatures of the new states and capitals he is learning about.
Kellan said that he missed school yesterday because his parents had a big argument. We didn't discuss details because he seemed to want to move on. I told him that whatever disagreements his parents have between them, they always do the best for him and his sisters. He agreed with that.
