Kellan wrote his spelling words in his dictionary. We read The Watsons Go to Birmingham. On the internet, we looked up the church burning in Birmingham 1963 and compared to the book.
Kellan began with review questions on multiplication facts and writing a mixed number represented by the length shown on a number line. Kellan needed a refresher on mixed numbers which we completed on the whiteboard using quick pictures or number lines to represent more than 1 whole. Then, Kellan worked on the unit review on using multiplication or division to find equivalent fractions, drawing a number line to show fractions, and shading fraction bars to compare fractions.
Kellan updated his checklist and continued working on the next page of his book. I also informed Kellan that we would be taking a break from the book to focus on a writing assignment in our next class.
Kellan finished his illustrated definitions of preserved remains, molds and casts, and fossils in stone. He watched a video of DIY mold and cast fossil making. He summarized how mold and cast fossils are made.
