Kellan and I reviewed the progress that he made since the last class. Kellan was able to complete the first book and we marked off the pages from his checklist. I provided feedback on the work that Kellan submitted and he used it to create the next page in his book.
This morning, Kellan worked on the multi-digit addition and subtraction maze from yesterday and was asked to complete the remaining problems for tonight's homework. Then, for review, he worked on IXL multiplying 2 multiples of 10. Finally, we played an adding multi-digit numbers fluency game. At the same time, we each pointed to a 4- to 5-digit number, created an addition equation, and found the sum. The answer was found on the gameboard and a tally was given to the player with that sum.
Kellan read about erosion and watched a video on erosion. We discussed it, viewed different pictures of erosion, and he drew an illustration of erosion.
Kellan wrote a story about the Mona Lisa in the first person. He used his imagination to write a story as if he were the Mona Lisa. When he finished writing the story he made an illustration to go with it. He completed two new states' and capitals' caricatures.
Kellan read about the different types of chemical weathering on rock: reaction with water, reaction with oxygen, reaction with acid, and reaction with organisms. He drew illustrated notes of the types of chemical weathering.
This morning, Kellan worked on an addition and subtraction fluency activity. He followed a path of sums and differences that were between 20,000 and 25,000 and was encouraged to use estimation to help him determine the next steps of the path to take. Kellan was assigned the remainder of the problems for homework.
