Kellan completed several activities pertaining to learning about the city of Venice in Italy. He read his vocabulary words, and discussed the events that led up to the Renaissance.
Kellan and I used his checklist to see the progress that he had made in the last week. I reviewed Kellan's work and I gave him some helpful feedback. Kellan used the rest of the period to work on one of the remaining pages in book one of his graphic novel.
Kellan reviewed the layers of soil: topsoil, subsoil and bedrock. He read pages 136-137 "Earth's Changing Surface: Weathering and Physical Weathering." He read about freezing, wind and plants. We discussed the concepts and analyzed the images in the chapter.
Kellan and I began by reviewing and correcting last night's homework on subtracting across zeros. Then, we continued and finished the subtracting multi-digit numbers fluency game. At the same time, we each pointed to a 3-digit number, created a subtraction equation, and found the difference. The answer was found on the gameboard and a tally was given to the player with that difference. Then, we played our weekly game of multiplication war to practice the multiplication facts.
