intro to Reading Workshop. We discussed how to choose a book to read. Kellan and I went to the library and he chose a novel called, "Four Eyes". We will use this novel in reading workshop to practice reading comprehension skills.
Kellan dictated a story for me to type for him. We reviewed different ways to say "said." We discussed his repeated phrases, "meanwhile" and "out of nowhere."
Kellan wrote his spelling words in his journal and highlighted letters to remember. Using a chart, we mapped out how to write an informational paragraph.
This morning, Kellan completed the final timed 5s fact check needed to show mastery, check off his progress chart, and move forward. Then, Kellan accurately copied three review problems from the whiteboard before they were correctly completed. Finally, he continued working on multiplying 3- and 4-digit numbers by single digits, solving problems from the lesson's independent practice. If needed, a multiplication facts chart was used to help with unknown facts. Kellan was asked to continue with the same assignment for homework.
Kellan reviewed elements and molecules. He completed an activity where he matched different elements and molecules to their correct column based on how many particles were bonded together. He read about molecules. He created an illustrated notecard for the term molecules.
Kellan began a new unit on rise of Christianity. He reviewed his new vocabulary words and their definitions. He wrote a summary explaining the rise of Christianity. He drew a depiction of Jesus. He worked on drawings of the Middle Atlantic States and Capitals.
