Lesson Outline
He took a timed 30 minute SSAT practice test on analogies and synonyms. Then we corrected it, and reviewed and discussed the ones he missed. We re-examined his SSAT essay he completed for homework, and corrected mistakes in order for him to be better prepared for his test.
Today's lesson focused on Black History Month. Mercer read the material the detailed facts about black history month. Mercer watched video clips of the history of slavery in America and events that happened after the civil war. He learned about how the U.S government legalized slavery during that era and how that has changed today. Mercer discussed and asked questions about how people could get away with such treatment of human beings and how long it lasted.

Lesson Outline
We worked on more strategies for answering and writing an essay for the SSAT test. He then took a 20 minute timed test over analogies and synonyms. We reviewed his spelling words and homework.
Today he looked for information about the country he chose for his final project and at the end, we played hangman to practice the words for his exam for the week.
Continue the lesson that Mercer started on the 9th. Work on shading and completing the drawing for the duration of class. We especially focused on how to get the scales of the snake to look as if they were overlapping by using various values and tones of the same color.
